Thoughts on reincarnation

I've been having a chat with a my brother about this and just wanted to post my thoughts on the subject in case I lose them :o)



I often wonder about the concept of a "soul mate" - and I think the idea of just one "mate" is wrong. The human soul is an unknown entity so why do we just assume that the soul would be bound by the human idea of "one true mate" (which is mainly a xtian concept based on 'one man, one woman").

We meet hundreds of people in our lives and some of them just "feel right". I'm sure that is our soul recognising a small part of itself in another person. A bit like the mirror in "The Snow Queen" that breaks into hundreds of pieces, I think our soul has done something similar over the thousands of years humanity has been around. Part of us longs to collect all the pieces back again to make us feel complete, and that's why I don't think there is just one "mate" - I think there are many... and eventually we find them all, however long it takes :o) Seeing as it's the soul that passes onto the afterlife (whether heaven, enlightenment, nirvana, the Summerlands, etc) we can't do that with an incomplete soul. That's why I do believe in reincarnation - we need to complete our soul and we come back as many times as we need to, to do it :o)

We meet the other parts of our soul in each incarnation (they don't lose the small part of us, we just gain it through them) and hopefully we add a new piece (or person) to that whole in each "life" until we've found all of the "soul holders" and we're once again complete.
