What to do for Mabon?

At the moment I have no idea and the festival is rapidly approaching.

I'm going to have to do some research and see if my pain-addled brain can come up with something... far too often I let festivals slip past without marking them, and I can't keep doing so as I feel really guilty when I do!

It will be nothing huge or demanding, as I'm assuming that my arm will still be hurting (and if I plan something taking that into account and it turns out that my arm is better, than I've lost nothing and can always add stuff "ad-lib"). I'll have to have a think and see what I can come up with.

I missed Imbolc!!!

I just realized that in all the confusion of this week, I've completely missed Imbolc (which I think was on the 3rd). How typical is that, LOL!!... I always seems to forget festivals.

MOT day for the car...

... IT PASSED!!!!! I am so very, very, very, very happy and relieved... all it needs is some new front windscreen wiper blades. That was the longest 35 mintues of my life! LOL!!

I now owe Selene (my patron goddess) an offering of white wine (her choice) for giving me the strength to get through the past week! I have the wine sitting beside me and am just waiting until later on to go and make the offering in my cauldron first and then I shall use it as a libation on the garden tomorrow.

Finally Samhain

I do hope that the new year is going to better than the last one! It's not off to a very good start as I have to take my car in for its MOT at 12.30 this afternoon... dreading that, I really am, I just have a terrible feeling that it will fail! But then I think that every year, and it has only failed once in five years (last year).

I really should stop being so pessimistic about things... but then if I prepare for the worst I am rarely shocked by bad news, so maybe it's my way of protecting myself from undue harm (weird, but it seems to work for me, LOL!!)

I had a migraine yesterday, which is no doubt because of all of the subconscious stress I've been under this last week... what with not being paid, having to work when I thought I'd got a week off, worrying about the car, the interview that I was dreading and also the MOT and not being able to pay the mortgage yet (as I haven't been paid) and all in all it's not been a good week for me here (which is an understatement to say the least!!)

Anyway... I'm going to see about having a nice long sleep, and I'm hopefully not going to be getting up before about 11am in the morning... the garage is only a ten minute walk away, so takes about two minutes in the car... it's just the waiting and not knowing that bothers me... I can usually handle most things, once I know what they are, hehehe!

Finger crossed!

Finally gave my thanks for Mabon

I was a day late, as I felt too ill yesterday, but I have just done what I wanted to do.

I thanked Selene for allowing me to have her as my patron Goddess, and then I took a small red apple, cut it in two (across not vertically) and I used it as a thank you to the Earth (not a god, but the actual planet).

I said (and I can't remember the exact owrds, but it went something like this).

"I thank you, Planet Earth for everything you have given me, and everyone else this year so far. I cut this apple in two as a thank you, one half for the food and water I have had, and the other half for the food and water that I have yet to consume.

For all of your bounty, I thank you... and I bury this small apple as my symbol of thanks to you."

And then I buried it. After I'd done that I thanked Selene again for the strength she gives me to face each day, I fed the birds and came indoors.

I feel happy now, as I usually forget to mark the festivals, and feeling ill hasn't helped (damn this stupid cold!), so I'm glad that I did something, even though it was small and late (which is better than nothing and never, lol!)

I shall light a votive and place it in my cauldron later, too... and I shall write a proper prayer to Selene, and not something just "off the cuff". My aging memory means that I always seem to forget what I've just said, and therefore don't have an accurate record of my workings.
