Still no onions...

... and my stomach has been as quiet as a mouse... no bloating, nausea, cramps, flatulence, etc for three days... it's been like heaven in my stomach - just wish that everything else was doing as well!

I cannot wait for Sissy to go back to Brighton... she's away with Pingu at a friends' barbeque today, and I can honestly say I was glad to see her go!! They tried to cook bacon sandwiches this morning, I say tried! He ended up burning through an expensive plastic chopping board, left the surfaces covered in bread crumbs and butter, and she spilt baked bean juice all over herself, the floor, the surfaces and the microwave and they then walked away and left it!!!. Not to mention that I was woken up by the repeated slamming of draws and cupboard doors and the smell of the grease and burnt bread made me feel really queasy, too... all made me the crankiest monster I've been for a long time. I only started to settle down and stop being angry once she left for the barbeque... I also made a lemon drizzle cake, and it focused my attention and calmed me down completely.

Still no contact from the boys' Mum, Michelle... this is getting really stupid and I just want to know if I still have a job next week **angry**

Didn't manage to get out in the garden, either, between dropping Dad to Nan's house, collecting him, going round to see if Michelle was home (she wasn't), baking some bread and also a cake I didn't seem to find the time. I also got up about 11.30 am and after yesterday's little accident my back was killing me! (The "accident" was my chair collapsing under me which sent me slithering to the floor... I laughed like a maniac when it happened, probably because Pingu was standing there and I was so embarrassed I tried to laugh it off. I can feel it in my lower back on the right side now, though... that was the side I landed on, and I can feel it pulling slightly whenever I move... gotta love ibuprofen, LOL!)

I witnessed a road traffic accident earlier today...

... between a large Royal Mail van and a motorbike.

It happened right in front of me as I was attempting to drive Sissy to see a friend in Ealing. There was an ambulance on the scene instantly (as it was already in the Commercial Road for some reason and it stopped to see if the rider was hurt)... and after about two minutes a police car appeared. After making sure that everything and everyone was ok, the van drove off and we were allowed to go on our way again. The whole incident took about ten minutes from start to finish... and they were the longest ten minutes of my life! At one point, the van driver pointed at me and I was sat there thinking to myself "what if I have to give a statement saying what I saw?" and "what if he's somehow going to try and blame me for the accident?!" I sat there desperately trying to order my thoughts in case I had to tell the police my eye witness account of the accident. It wouldn't have taken long... van pulled across my lane trying to do a u-turn, driver was looking the wrong way (left at traffic on the other side of the road, and not right to check the traffic on his own side), bike carried on, so did the van, van hit bike, rider ended up on the floor after the van clipped the left-hand back side of the bike. Ambulance and police then arrived. End.

We both sat there with our hands to our mouths, and I'm still a little shaky over it now... even though the rider of the motorcycle got up and walked his bike to the pavement. I think it was the shock of seeing him collide with the front of the van, that shook me up a little (plus I already had a stomach ache, which didn't help)... I've never seen anything like that before (in real life). Sissy and I were so shaken up that we turned around and came home and she went to Ealing on the Tube instead.

I was in the new car, too. (Which is brilliant, by the way. So nice to be able to get out and go where we want to again... I'd missed the freedom that having a car gives.)

I don't know if it's because I had a fairly restless night last night, or the comedown from seeing the accident (a little shock, maybe?) but I'm so very tired, and once or twice earlier this evening I swear that I dropped off for a few minutes in my chair at the kitchen table... you know that heavy tiredness in your eyes that you just cannot fight? That.

I feel so tired

My eyes are stinging and feel as if they are lined with carpet, they feel raw. Maybe because I didn't get much sleep last night, about four hours by the time I did everything that I wanted to do around the house, washed my hair and hung up the washing to dry (plus I was watching some Inspector Morse and I got kind of engrossed in it, LOL!)

I don't think that I'm going to be late to bed tonight, Mum has to go to the fracture clinic at 9.40 tomorrow morning, and I'm hoping that her elbow is just sprained or bruised and not broken in any way. She's full of aches and pains today, which is only to be expected in the circumstances. Her nose is quite swollen, but the redness is fading and she has a lovely black (left) eye.

For some reason I seem to have an annoying tic in my left eye, probably a stress thing, I often get it, I also need some new glasses (which I'm hoping to get in the new year when I get paid... thirteen weeks now and still nothing **fumes**).

I had an idea about a tattoo last night, the wartime phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On"... it perfectly describes the way I deal with things. Sometimes I can appear a little too calm for some people. I un-nerve Sissy sometimes with the way I handle situations, as I refuse to get in a flap and worry about things that may not be worth worrying about... but I have to handle things that way or else I'll just go completely to pieces and be of no use to anyone at all. Maybe I'm just too old before my time, or maybe I've just come to the conclusion that there is very little point in worrying about things as it gets you nowhere and can actually end up doing more harm than good. I'm often reminded of a phrase that I've seen about the 'net "Everything will be alright in the end, if it's not alright, it's not the end!"

Damn! I was so scared then!!

My Mum fell over today. She fell off of our large settee whilst putting up our festive decorations and landed on her face, arm and chest! Her nose was bleeding and she'd pushed her teeth through her bottom lip, she'd hurt her arm and her neck and for a few seconds I was in a total panic as to what to do!

Me and Dad got her up off the floor and after a few minutes she started to look very bad, she was shaking, very wobbly on her feet and had trouble thinking straight. I said about calling an ambulance, but she said no, so I took her straight to the hospital and while she was there she started to perk up a bit (much to my relief). After two and a half hours we were able to come home and there appears to be nothing seriously wrong... there are a few minor things, but nothing that needed stitches, bandages, plaster casts or having to stay in overnight. Also there was no sign of any head trauma or concussion, which was my biggest worry... I've seen programmes where people have suffered head injuries and died as a result, so just to have that ruled out is a great relief!

We have to go back tomorrow to the fracture clinic as the doctor wasn't happy with her right elbow and wants them to have a more detailed look at it, but seeing as she fell from about four feet, straight down, I suppose that she was fairly lucky to get away with a possibly broken nose, a split lip, a cracked rib, a jarred neck and possibly a fractured elbow (to be confirmed tomorrow). She got some painkillers and a foam collar and cuff for her arm and we came home... in record time, too (in the past we have waited longer than the total time it took today just to be seen, so I'm grateful that more people were careful this weekend, LOL).

I have to say that I was so frightened when I found her laying on the floor... one of my greatest fears is losing my parents, although I realize one day I will have to face that fear, just not anytime in the near future if possible. I need them more than I ever realized.
