What an asshat!!

I got involved in a fairly heated debate with someone at Facebook earlier on... I know, I know I should have resisted the urge to feed the troll, but I just couldn't let such a moronic display of tomfoolery slide.

It all started when I shared this picture

It shows the actor, Taylor Lautner (who plays werewolf, Jacob in the recent Twilight films) wearing a shirt that has a message I agree with.

Anyway, I thought no more of it until a total jerk began leaving comments about it... I'm going to post the conversation as a whole just in case he decides to delete his posts at a later date, as other people have done in the past (which irritates me as it looks like I'm talking to myself).

    • Mikal Dmon and in some states they don't..get over it!

    • Minty Autumn Ede The those states should be ashamed of themselves for having opinions on things that are none of their business... get over it!

    • Mikal Dmon when you involve the state seal you make it the people's business..You can't have your cake and eat it too..

    • Minty Autumn Ede What people chose to do regarding their love life concerns no one but the people involved when it is between consenting adults. The "cake" is a private affair and people need to cut their own cakes and stop telling others how to do it.

    • Mikal Dmon again, you're too committed to step back and see the point..States develop their own laws, and when you use the states seal to approve something, as the do in marriage, you're going to have to put up with the people's opinion..If you don't want them, stop asking states to hand out marriage licenses..

    • Mikal Dmon don't get to upset, I'm just playing devil's advocate, I really don't disagree with you..

    • Minty Autumn Ede It's not the peoples opinion, it's the state telling people the way it's going to be. Just because the state says it doesn't mean it's right. I have no idea what individual states do as I gladly don't live in one. I just fail to see why so many people seem to have such a strong opinion on something that directly contradicts personal freedom!

    • Minty Autumn Ede It just amazes me that a country as modern as America can still be so backwards regarding certain things... people have the right to bear arms and say whatever they like, but not to want to marry someone they love because they have the same genitals. It baffles me.

    • Mikal Dmon I'm not a relationship expert so i have no room to give anyone love advice!

    • Minty Autumn Ede Nor am I, but I recognise discrimination and enforced inequality when I see it. Neither can I blindly ignore nor condone it when I see people I love and care about being made to feel they're lesser or a "disgusting abomination" merely for loving another person who just happens to be the same gender :o(
      16 hours ago ·

    • Mikal Dmon enforced inequality??? people at hooters want to see big breast, small chest need not apply...I don't see any issue with that
      5 hours ago ·

    • Minty Autumn Ede What does that have to do with anything?!
Are you seriously comparing a chain of tacky restaurants that only employ large breasted women to denying people the right to marry because they're the same gender? That is like comparing Playboy ...See more

before you criticize my point, you might try to understand it first..YOU said being LGBT is not a choice, well do you being small breasted is? Aren't they denied the same opportunity others have, like Gays are denied the opportunity others ...See more

    • Minty Autumn Ede
I'm not criticising your point, neither do I need to "understand it" as I'm saying the comparison is ridiculous! If someone wanted to work at Hooters so badly yet they lacked the breasts to do so they can either suck it up and find employment elsewhere or have a breast enlargement and get the job. They have a CHOICE.

The only way using the "small breast card" could possibly be relevant is if they were denied getting any job, anywhere because of it. That is obviously not the case so I still fail to see how the two are comparable!

Just because discrimination is still used, doesn't mean it is right to carry on doing so, especially in a area where it has no bearing upon anyone else's life. I have been the subject of discrimination my whole life because of my weight and to hear it used against people that cannot change the very aspect that it is used against is repugnant to me. I can lose weight, someone LGBT cannot change who they fall in love with.

I am not "fighting around" anything, you sir, seem determined to try and wander from the point by bringing up obstacles that are not only irrelevant but also ridiculous. Discrimination is not a "privilege" it is the way a society attempts to control something it has no business controlling. Until attitudes like the one you display are dead and buried there will be people that feel they have the right to use discrimination. I suggest you stop thinking of discrimination as a "privilege" and see it for what it really is... wrong and not welcome in the 21st century!

I shall continue to counter everything silly you say about this issue, so I suggest you just stop being "devil's advocate" and/or trying to argue a case that has already been lost. Get over it and just ssshh!

I still fail to see the correlation between same-sex marriage and working it a place that is one tiny t-shirt and a metal pole away from a strip club... one is a job and the other is a basic human right that only ever seems to be argued against by people it doesn't effect! I have never seen anyone that is LGBT saying that same-sex marriage is wrong... it is only heterosexuals, or religious heterosexuals that seem to have the problem.  That speaks volumes to me.

Maybe it is my inner hippy... maybe it is just my asexuality that doesn't see a problem with same sex couples (I did at one stage wonder if I was a lesbian myself, until I realised that I'm just not that attracted to anyone, regardless of gender lol. I can appreciate a beautiful face no matter the sex of the possessor... maybe I'm a bi-asexual in that I'm not greatly attracted to either yet would not rule out a relationship with them?)

Apart from that my day has been ok... I was up all night with stomach problems... and I seem to have dreadful trouble sleeping at night, although I can sleep during the day (which at first I though was because I've been drinking coffee and cola a lot lately which has caffeine... but seeing as I can sleep during the day it can't be that). That is probably why I was so terse and short in my replies to "Mr. Devil's Advocate" up there ^^^ Lack of sleep with a pain chaser tends to rob me of my patience (sometimes I wonder if that is a good or bad thing... my patience sometimes stops me from saying what I really feel as I always try and be nice to people regardless of whether they warrant it or not!)

More from the "Idiot King of Facebook". I have since removed him as a friend and reported him for annoying me lol.

‎"For the record, I'm straight as well, yet I don't seem to use it as some kind of superiority card against those are not." Okay , I lost all interest in being nice.(I really was) However, I never SAID I find myself superior to anyone, YOUR ASSUMPTION ASSHOLE~UNDERSTANDING MY POINT, you would know I meant it as means of explaining my way of thinking..I speak from a heterosexual mindset, that often doesn't contemplate the plight of other..That being said, you ASSUME allot of things actually, which is the result of you talking AN NOT LISTENING..You have a problem running your mouth, you absolutely suck at understanding others..I bet you suck at allot of things...

  • Minty Autumn Ede Do you have some kind of compulsion to constantly copy and paste the same thing over and over again? It makes no difference how many times you do it, you still make no sense. Idiot.

I don't want to talk to you... so just shut the fuck up and go the fuck away!

Discrimination in dating doesn't make it right... I fail to see what that has to with anything. But then you equate same-sex marriage as working in a bar with big chested waitresses, so why should I expect logic from you!

Tracking sex offenders is not discrimination... that is making sure the public as a whole is safe and that perpetrators don't' have a chance of re-offending. Do you even know what discrimination actually is? Sounds not from the "case" you're making. Enforcing the law for the safety of the public is not discrimination. It is basic common sense. You have not defended your point, you have just proved your ignorance of the English language... I suggest you purchase a dictionary to avoid future confusion when shooting yourself in the foot! Hahaha

LOL... someone that sees discrimination as a good thing calls me an asshole... I guess it takes one to recognise another.

I lost all interest in talking to you when you saw discrimination as a privilege... that makes you a bigger asshole than I could ever be. I hope you never have kids, or that if ypu do they take after their mother. I pity them greatly if they take after you. Asshat!

Don't reply anymore... you have nothing left to say that even makes sense... nor do I want to hear it. Seeing as I don't even know who the hell you are (I don't even recall adding you as a friend) I think it is time you left my profile for good. You are a vile creature... I can't even call you a man. Seeya.

I am so angry right now!!

I didn't have to do a school run today, but I had to anyway!

I met the class that contains the little girl I collect coming back from a school trip... just at the end of my road. I asked if I could take her, and I got the reply "no you can't as I have to count her back into class". WTF!! I then had to walk to the school, with all the kids in the class, then watch as they were taken back into school and then let out again!!!

I have never heard of anything so damned stupid in my entire life! I could have understood if I was a stranger that the teacher had never seen before, but as soon as she saw me sitting on the wall she let the little girl I collect out first!

Why I couldn't have taken her when I saw her, rather than have to walk all the way to the school and back again is totally beyond me!!

Another good reason that I am taking a break from this job... this kind of pc bullshit really makes me angry, and I have no time for it anymore!!!!!

Wow, long time between updates.

I wish I could say that my life has been a hectic whirlwind of fun and laughter, with barely a moment to sit down and catch my breath... but alas it has just been the same old mundane routine, only with the added bonus of finding out that I'm totally out of work around the end of November (date yet to be confirmed!)

After doing the same job for about 20 years, and feeling thoroughly drained and fed up I've decided to take some time out when the current children leave... I just can't do this anymore and I need a break (Mum feels the same and we work together). We will be able to survive, although things will be tight, but I have to say that I'm looking forward to having some peace and quiet and not having to keep "watching the clock" for school pick-ups! Christmas will be a no present affair, but with the fifth anniversary of Nana's death on the 26th of December, christmas has long been a time of mourning for me. Christmas is really for kids anyway, and I only used to look forward to it for having the tree up with the lovely lights, and also the time off that we always got then.

The dating sites are a total waste of time and I don't visit them anymore except when I get rare messages. I had one guy that I didn't even know message me insults one Friday night (so I assume he was drunk... or just a dickhead, he soon got a piece of mind in return and also reported and blocked). Then I had a guy called Jose track me down from one site for larger women (that I joined and forgot about), to Facebook... and then he found me at a separate dating site as well (stalker much?!) The funny part was he got pissed off when I refused his offer of going out for a cup of tea (that was his first message, like I'd say yes to meeting a total stranger!). Then he got pissed off because I didn't ask him out anywhere... I don't even ask my friends out so why he thought I'd ask him is beyond me altogether lol... and then he got pissed off when I asked him to stop bothering me and he said that I was actually bothering HIM! hahaha. When I pointed out that he was the one that tracked me down at three different places, he had the gall to call me "pathetic." My reply to him was this:
Being pathetic yourself I suppose you recognise the same trait in others. Just piss off and leave me alone. You started talking to me, you found me at other places. Just get over yourself, get a life and get out of mine. I want nothing to do with you so just GO AWAY!
A little harsh, maybe, but I no longer have patience with people that feel that I owe them something, when I actually owe them nothing. I tried to be nice and I'd asked him to not bother replying to me as he had nothing to say that I wished to read (and that got the "pathetic" response)... and I just lost my temper and let him have both barrels, so to speak. I then changed my Facebook settings so that people have to be at least "friends of friends" in order to send me messages (and not "everyone" that I had before), and I blocked him from the last site he followed me to (I didn't bother with the first site as I'm not a full member and can't read messages without paying them money which I'm not doing anymore).

I'm quite looking forward to Samhain (although as usual I completely forgot about Mabon and only remembered when people sent me "Blessed Mabon" pictures online lol! (did I mention that I'm a lazy pagan hehe). Samhain is different as I pay my respects to my passed over family... it's more personal somehow for me and I at least have to light candles for each of those that I have loved and lost. Then it's Bonfire Night, with the free fireworks display and then it's Yule and the New Year. The year seems to have whizzed past and we are back to the cold weather again (though hopefully not a repeat of the snow and ice we had at the beginning of the year!)

A question about the term "fluffy" in Paganism

There was a question asked, about just what "fluffy" means (at a forum I used to go to all the time, but which I rarely go to anymore as I feel as if I now longer belong there as I'm not "Pagan enough!")

I was going to reply to the thread, but upon reflection I really didn't feel comfortable enough in doing so and so I'm posting it here instead (no doubt someone would have remarked about my post not actually replying to the question of the thread, and I just cannot be bothered in people arguing with me over it). My reply:

I'd be very surprised if there were any "fluffies" in the Valley, this place tends to knock that out of people very quickly! I know it did with me!

Reading the definitions of "fluffy" here made me laugh... and I fall into the "fluffy" spectrum in a good few areas (although not in my belief about angels and fairies, I don't believe in them). In regards to some of them I'm a very bad Pagan and probably should stop using the term in regards to myself as I don't appear to be Pagan enough.

Personally, I don't care how fluffy someone is, and it's taking me years to counteract the negative programming I received here towards terms like blessed be and merry meet (and subsequently my opinions of people that use them, too... when you are told enough to scorn the terms, eventually you end up scorning the people that use them as well, which is wrong!)

These days I don't care what people believe, I just care about how they treat me and others. It matters more to me. If people want to believe that all fairies are like Tinkerbell and are happy little pixies that only do good for people, who cares? Who are they hurting by believing that? No one (and if the Fae are offended by that I'm sure they are more than capable of doing something about it, not that I believe in the Fae, either).

People should have the right to believe whatever the hell they want, and none of us have any rights to tell them that they can't (or treat them as somehow lesser for holding beliefs we disagree with... that would make us elitists).

I would have posted it there, but there would be no point, I'd either be ignored or I'd be dog-piled and have people having a go at me for saying it and I truly can't be bothered with that kind of treatment! I seemed to routinely either get ignored or treated as somehow lesser for voicing my opinion over there in the past, so I no longer bother anymore (in fact I left for the longest time and returned a few weeks ago to find most of the people that seemed to take umbrage at my mere prescence had been banned, but there are still a few left). I just don't feel as if my opinions matter so why should I post anything there?!

I can honestly say that the only things I learned there were how to look down on people for believing things that I was meant to find ridiculous and how to be very cynical and condescending regarding people that dare to say things that are frowned upon (like merry meet and blessed be).

It is being back at places like that that make me not want to be pagan at all... if I'm meant to believe some of the things that they all believe I'd rather not bother with any of it!

They are fine with people believing in whatever they want, unless they don't agree with it and then you shouldn't believe it! I truly don't give a shit anymore... if people want to worship a clown riding a yellow unicycle round and round in a circle, that is up to them and as long as they don't tell me I have to believe in it too, it's all good.

I sometimes wonder if it's places like that that help make me so confused sometimes... if enough people tell you you're wrong for thinking a certain way, eventually you start to believe them so that you feel like you belong! It reminds me of the story of The Emperor's New Clothes, where anyone that couldn't see the wonderful fabric was a fool... and as no one wanted to be thought of as a fool they went along with the charade even though the King walked the streets stark naked!

I'm not prepared to spend my time defending my opinions against people that have no right to question them, so it's better for me to just stay away from those people!!!

I had sad news over the weekend...

... I found out one of my online friends, Koko, had died. I'd known her for years, but had lost contact with her a couple of years ago. I was searching for her for a friend and I found a newspaper article from her local paper saying that she had died (she tried to stop two horses from fighting, was  kicked and died instantly).

I told all of the people that I knew (that also knew her) and one of them confirmed it was indeed my friend. She was only 46 years old and left behind a husband and daughter (that I think is now in her early twenties). So sad.

I did manage to light a candle, and later, when I caught sight of the moon, I asked Selene to take care of Koko and let her have a peaceful rest in the Summerlands before she returns to us. For some reason it just seemed like the right thing to do.

In other news...

I have more or less given up on the dating sites, all I end up doing is chatting to people I don't really want to talk to (but I'm too polite to ignore messages lol). Only one guy is still sending me messages and I really wish he'd stop, but I don't have the heart to tell him so.

I've not been well recently, and I have no idea just what is wrong. I feel dizzy, light-headed and when I took my blood pressure the other day it was 115/61 (the average reading should be 120/80) so it's quite low. I just wish I could stop my stomach from hurting, it's really beginning to annoy me  *sigh* I just feel constantly as if someone has punched/kicked me in the stomach and it's getting really old now!

The rioting seems to have ended as abruptly as it began, and hopefully all those arrested for looting and criminal damage will be harshly dealt with by the justice system. I have no time for people that go out of their way to cause misery to others because of their own selfishness!

This has been a really shitty evening

First of all my cat jumped out of the front room window when I left the room, he then ran away up the street when I went out to get him. Seriously, I just don't care anymore! He has no collar on or anything and he was out on the main road and ran to a break in the houses and sprinted down the alley into the back gardens... I just hope he stays round the back and didn't double back and cross the road. I hope he gets scared, and when he gets back in the house he can have his uncomfortable collar put back on and get over it!! I can't even worry tonight as I'm too pissed off  >:o(  <--- angry face

One thing I'm certain of, though, once these cats die I am never getting another cat, ever! I just can't be bothered in caring for creatures that give nothing back anymore. If anything I'd rather get a dog, at least they come when you call them.

Then I had this conversation on MSN... I've been talking to the guy for a week and I cannot believe the gall of the man!! (he told me he quit his job as the company were forcing those that wanted to stay to go to Aberdeen and he refused to go, so resigned).

raymond says:
Yeah...but there is something i did like to ask you pls..

Minty says:
 sure

raymond says:
I know it seems as if you dont know much about me or something...but i just feel you are nice person and someone i could talk with..though i am shy and have never done this before..
but..its just the way things are for me at the moment...
i'd like to ask of your favour to help me out with the amount to renew my badge..
and i promise to be able to pay you back by the end of next month..cuz i will definitely get a job with it in no time..i already seen an agent whos helping out on that...

Minty says:
how much are you asking for?

raymond says:
 its just 300quid..
 though its not..but its money..

Minty says:
I'm afraid I don't have that kind of money to spare, that is our food budget for the entire month... I'm sorry

raymond says:
well, perhaps you could help with something even if its 200..i will try to empty my account then..cuz i just sent some money to my dad for his health issues..
i just feel like sht right now..
really need a lady in my life..at least for now..and for ever..it really takes two to tango sometimes..

Minty says:
I afraid I can't give you any money, I have to feed my family, especially my disabled father... I'm sorry

raymond says:
   *sigh*

Minty says:
I really wish I could help

raymond says:
thanks ...but... if you could help with some amount..then i will try ask my mate some too..
because him too need some money to do his own too..
its just the money i sent to dad that makes me 'skinny' for now..lol and its really affecting me..
sometimes i feel like disowning him as a father..for joining the gay sht

Minty says:
I can't even afford to get my sister a present for her 21st birthday in July, and what is so bad about being gay?

raymond says:
 hes got anal cancer innit

Minty says:
so, Farrah Fawcett died of that and she wasn't gay... anal cancer isn't only for gay men

raymond says:
huh... but at least its part of it and it contributes..its not 100% moralistic for a responsible person to do

Minty says:
that is like saying that having sex with men gives women cervical cancer... there is no connection between the two. And I don't believe there is amything immoral about being gay... to me love is love and it doesn't matter who people love

raymond says:
anyway..its libel and wrong to have prejudice about anyones orientation..
Minty..now my eyes feel sleepy..and i have to sleep now..i will try to wake up early to see a mate before he leaves for work tomorrow..
i thought you did like to wish me sweetdreams...

Minty says:
ok, you take care... and for the simple fact that you asked me for money and then had a go at gay men I'm blocking and deleting you as I can't talk to people that try and take advantage of others and that are intolerant of other peoples' sexuality. Good luck in life, and I wish your father a speedy recovery, and a more tolerant son in the future! Sweet dreams

Does he think I'm stupid?! Even if I were a millionaire I wouldn't give him money, purely for the gay-bashing bullshit!! If he thought that would convince me to give him the money he was wrong, very, very wrong... nothing could have made me more determined to not give him a penny! Even when I said that £300 was the money for the food to feed my family he still kept asking... so my family can go hungry so that he can get a badge that will let him become a security guard!! I don't think so! HAHAHAHAHA.
